For gospel songstress Eleana Makombe, that song is her latest release, Mazvita Henyu — a raw, heartfelt offering of gratitude that is already sending ripples through the worship music scene.
Released just days ago, the live video has ignited excitement among gospel fans. But this is not just another worship track. It is a testimony set to melody — born from the ashes of a horrific accident that nearly claimed everything.
On 30 December 2025, Makombe and her husband were involved in a devastating accident under the bridge on Seke Road. In that terrifying moment, she thought it was the end.
“Following our accident on 30 December 2025 under the bridge on Seke Road, I thought this was the end for me and my husband — but God had other plans,” Makombe shared.
“God preserved my life and surrounded me with His mercy and grace. This song Mazvita Henyu is my personal testimony, a heartfelt expression of gratitude to my Heavenly Father for His protection, faithfulness, and the precious gift of life.”
Mazvita Henyu — which translates to “Thank You, Lord” — is a musical declaration of survival. It is the sound of a woman who stared death in the face and lived to tell the story.
“Every breath I take is a reminder that His hand has never left me. He is still working, still sustaining, still performing miracles, and still deserving of all the glory,” she said.
The live video captures the raw emotion of the recording, with Makombe connecting deeply with the audience in a way that only someone who has walked through the fire can. The production quality is top-tier, but it’s the authenticity that has audiences pressing repeat.
In a world that often moves too fast to pause and reflect, Makombe’s message is a timely reminder.
“Mazvita Henyu is more than a song; it is my sincere thank you to God for giving me another chance to live, worship, and declare His goodness,” she said.
The song is anchored by a verse that has carried her through the darkest moments:
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” — Psalm 136:1
This is not the first time Makombe has turned pain into praise. Her previous collaboration with gospel heavyweight Mathias Mhere, Ndiye Mwari, followed a similar theme — a powerful reminder that tomorrow is never guaranteed.
“We make plans, move through life, and assume all will go as we’ve mapped it out — until life takes a sudden, unexpected turn. That’s when we’re reminded of a higher power,” she reflected.
Ndiye Mwari — both the song and its cinematic video — captivated audiences with its relatable and profound narrative. Now, Mazvita Henyu continues that legacy, cementing Makombe’s place as one of Zimbabwe’s most authentic worship voices.
