HARARE – Delta Beverages, through its Lager Beer Business and flagship brand Castle Lager, has begun rolling out a donation of 100 state-of-the-art hospital beds to public health facilities across Zimbabwe’s 10 provinces, starting with Sally Mugabe Hospital in Harare.
The handover, which took place at the central hospital on Wednesday, fulfills a pledge made during the 10th anniversary celebration of the National Castle Lager Braai Day, according to Irimayi Muzorewa, Marketing Director at Delta Corporation.
“On behalf of Delta Beverages’ Lager Beer Business, we are pleased to be here today to fulfil a commitment made through our flagship brand, Castle Lager, during our 10th anniversary celebration of the National Castle Lager Braai Day — namely, to give back meaningfully to the 10 provinces that participated and made our milestone celebration a success,” Muzorewa said.
“We pledged to donate one hundred state-of-the-art hospital beds, which will be distributed across the ten provinces of the country.”
The handover at Sally Mugabe Hospital marks the first of ten such events nationwide. Muzorewa expressed pride in beginning the initiative at the Harare facility, which serves thousands of patients annually.
Delta Beverages reaffirmed its commitment to national development and community well-being, describing the donation as a fitting gesture of appreciation to the communities that sustain its business.
“Delta Beverages remains committed to supporting national development and investing in the well-being of the communities that form the foundation of our success,” Muzorewa said.
“We truly believe that this donation is a fitting way to show our appreciation to the communities we serve, while also playing a part in supporting and advancing public healthcare.”
Addressing hospital staff and management, the marketing director said the beds are intended to enhance patient comfort and support the delivery of quality healthcare.
“We trust that this donation will support your ongoing efforts to deliver quality healthcare and enhance patient comfort across your facility,” he said.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to you and your dedicated staff for the invaluable service you continue to provide to our nation. Please accept this contribution as a token of our deep appreciation and solidarity.”
The donation comes as Zimbabwe’s public health facilities continue to face equipment shortages, with the government calling on private sector partners to assist in bridging gaps in medical infrastructure.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Hopeful Mungani commended Delta Corporation for the gesture saying the Sally Mugabe Hospital was in need of 57 beds.
He, however said the donation would go a long way in improving the health service to the community at large.
