Organisers of the popular Stanbic Jacaranda Music Festival on Tuesday announced South Africa’s hip-hop star Casper Nyovest as one of the heavy hitters.
The 7th edition running from 4 to 6 October will also see the return of Zimbabwe’s Mokoomba and Travellers band as some of the acts to look forward to. Other acts are Nutty O and Feli Nandi from Zimbabwe.
Besides the artist line up and dates, Walter Wanyanya the executive director of the festival confimed the change in venue from Old Hararians Sports Club to Thornepark Polo Club along Harare Drive in Malborough.
“We have always changed the venue after every three years having started of at Hellenics Sports Club then we moved to Old Hararians and now at Thornepark Polo Club where we believe it is a few minutes’ drive outside the city centre and is also spacious.
“There is enough space for food stalls and also dancing,” Wanyanya said.
Asked how they came up with the artist line-up, Wanyanya said they were influenced by music that complements the festival.
“It is not about who the biggest artiste or who is there or here, but we want our playlist to make sense to the festival goers and also music that makes the festival different from others,” he said.
Sport, Arts and Recreation Permanent Secretary Nicholas Moyo threw his weight behind the Stanbic Jacaranda Music Festival urging organisers to give corporates value.
He encouraged organisers to come up with more such festivals which not only offer entertainment but also capacitate artists.
Dubbed as the “Biggest Celebration of life through music in Zimbabwe” the Stanbic Jacaranda Music Festival is known for its music experience where every act starts on time and delivers the best.
