Cape Town Samp Army is excited to announce its participation in the second season of the Zim Afro T10, hosted and organized by Zimbabwe Cricket.
On Saturday September 21st, team owner Mr Ritesh Patel hosted a special event where the team’s jerseys were officially distributed to all payers of Cape Town Samp Army.
The name “SAMP” stands for unity, and the fear lives up to this spirit, as itis composed of players from England, Afghanistan, West indies, Pakistan, Svi Lanka, UAE and Zimbabwe.
The players were visibly excited and happy as they received their jerseys, reflecting a positive team spirit.
Kohen Mustafa, the captain of Cape Town Samp Army, expressed his excitement:
“1 am delighted and excited to have world class players from all over the word. The format demands quick but composed action on the field, and I am sure this team has the right temperament to succeed.”
David Wiley, the team’s vice-captain added: “We don’t have big names, but we have the right combination in our team, and that will give us an edge over others.”
Benjamin Curran, representing Zimbabwe, shared his thoughts on playing with international players: “It will be a great experience playing with and against world-class cricketers, and I’m proud to add local Zimbabwean power to the team.”
Samp Army has previously participated in various TI0 tournaments with renowned international players like Moeen Ali, Faf du Plessis Jason Holder, David Miller, Shimron Hetmyer, Rahmanulah Gurbez, and Mahesh Theokshana.
Many players echoed the same sentiments about the team’s culture stating: “The owner and management of Samp Army treat us like family. Playing as a team and maintaining a strong team culture is their top priority.”

The team’s first match is scheduled for September 21 at 5pm at Harare Sports Ground against Harare Bolts. Cape Town Samp Army will play a total of seven league matches in order to qualify for the top four.

The Zim Afro T10 tournament runs from September 21st to September 30, with all games taking place at the Harare Sports Ground
