Botswana and Zimbabwe continue to reinforce their long-standing diplomatic relationship through multiple agreements and shared values of peace, unity, and development.
Botswana’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Sithabile Sarah Molosiwa, highlighted the two nations’ deep-rooted connection, built on mutual support and historical ties. “We walk shoulder to shoulder, uplifting lives and building resilience across our shared border,” she said.
Molosiwa emphasized Botswana’s foundation on peace, democracy, and Pan-African values, noting the legacy of figures like Seretse Khama in the fight for independence and unity.
Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira, echoed these sentiments during Botswana’s 59th Independence Day celebrations in Harare. He praised Botswana as a model of visionary leadership, unity, and development.
“Our nations are bound by history, blood, culture, and shared aspirations,” Prof Murwira said. “Generations have lived and worked together, and trade remains a cornerstone of our bilateral relations.”
He reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to Pan-Africanism, regional solidarity, and their active roles in SADC and the African Union.
The celebrations, hosted at Ambassador Molosiwa’s residence on October 10, brought together diplomats from Africa, Asia, and the West, alongside select media, in a show of regional unity and friendship.
