Zimbabwean music fans seem to have forgiven but not forgotten the unfortunate incident where Jah Master kicked off a fan during his performance at a gig held in Chinhoyi late last year.
The video of the incident went viral while Jah Master was roundly condemned forcing him to not only apologise to the fan but also assisted him to get medical attention.
That public relations and the subsequent apology must have worked in his favour as he emerged with three gongs at the Zimbabwe Music Awards 2021 held virtually at the weekend.
The Unonzani hitmaker won Best Zim dancehall, Best Male Artist and Song of the Year for Hello Mwari. The awards could have gone to Poptain whose collabo Fadza Mutengi alongside Alanah also did some damage late last year.
In his acceptance message posted on his official Facebook, Jah Master shared his elation but in the process got some brickbats from his followers.
“Thank You ZIMA.. we scooped the Best Zim dancehall, Best Male and Song of the Year Last night . . . Thank you for The Support. Shout Out to #TheNextGeneration” he wrote.
However, although fans were happy for him they also made it clear that the incident in Chinhoyi would not be repeated.
Stanley Tinotenda Muchenje commented: “Jah Master wakugonawo kudaira vanhuka musorobhangu.”
Shantiel Wendy responded: “Jah Master zvauriwe upedze utirove mazhaba.”
Pamela Tanaca Chikosi said: “ Jah Master chipfekawo hembe.”
Another fan Taunaty Pazvese replied: “ Jah Master its only because youre creative # ngazviendemberi”
Morgen Mushinyi wished him well: “Jah Master Wazotipasaoka manyemwe better urambe uchogona and try to reduce madrugs kuitira kurarama more years.”
But Roby Mandaza commented: “We love you bcz wangotidaira tese ka1 hausarudze Kung Fu kumangoma homme wangu wepaSataz big
Tynoe Clark Taonana warned that: “Jah Master we hope u will copy from chibaba. Panoda anovhara that gape , being humble is the ultimate key your art is very good Iro bhurugwa rekwandunge it’s okay but not always.”
