AU/African Acquisition Trust vaccines arrive in Togo

CAPTION STORY: The first of the monthly vaccine shipments acquired by the AU/African Acquisition Trust (AVAT) have been shipped to Togo. This month AU Member States begin to receive the shipments, announced yesterday (August 2, 2021), with 50 million doses expected to have been delivered by the end of December. The vaccines, part of the 400m single doses acquired by the AU from Johnson & Johnson, will immunise a third of the African population, bringing the continent halfway towards its goal of vaccinating at least 60 percent of the population.
