Harare – Get ready for a high-octane explosion of music, dance, and horsepower as sungura legend Alick Macheso leads a dynamic lineup of artists at this year’s Castle Tankard event, set for Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the iconic Borrowdale Racecourse.

Dubbed “the people’s party on the turf,” the 65th edition of the Castle Tankard is more than just a prestigious horse race—it’s a full-blown entertainment spectacle.

The gates open at 10am and the action rolls on until 7:30pm, promising a family-friendly festival of thrills, chills, and chart-topping music.

Returning to the Castle Tankard stage by popular demand, Macheso—affectionately known as Extrabasso—is expected to wow the crowd with his signature bass grooves, killer footwork, and the tight rhythms of Orchestra Mberikwazvo. His live performances are the stuff of legend, and fans can expect nothing less than fireworks.

But Macheso won’t be dancing alone.

This year’s lineup is packed with rising stars and crowd favorites including Enzo Ishall, Delroy Shewe, Nisha Ts, Oriyano, and the Chillspot Family, who are guaranteed to turn up the heat and bring fresh vibes to the party.

“The Castle Tankard is a celebration of unity, music, and top-tier racing,” said Kundayi Mawema Delta Beverages Marketing Manager Lagers.

“We’re inviting Zimbabweans from all walks of life to come together for an unforgettable day—complete with ice-cold beers, sizzling braais, and electric performances.”

While music and merrymaking set the tone, the Castle Tankard remains one of Zimbabwe’s premier Grade One horse racing events, drawing top trainers, jockeys, and thoroughbreds from across the region. With $50,000 in prize money at stake, racing fans are in for edge-of-the-seat excitement.

Whether you’re there for the racing, the revelry, or to watch Extrabasso work his magic on stage—this is the event you don’t want to miss.
