By Jonathan Mbiriyamveka

The five finalists in Munondida Ndakadaro Open Verse Challenge have been announced with each contestant appearing in TWO recap videos whereby fans get to watch, choose and vote.

The challenge, brainchild of celebrated gospel Minister Everton Mlalazi, was more than just a competition—it was an invitation.

Posting on his official Instagram and Facebook accounts, named the five finalists saying :

“Presenting your Top 6 Finalists for the Munondida Ndakadaro Open Verse Challenge

Finalists: Triciah Jonas @t.r.i.ci.a.h, Ashley Nkiwane @ashy_wishy, Valentine Zvavano @valentine_zvamano, Ruth Alfredo @minister_ruth_alfredo and Takudzwa Splits @takusplits263. One of them is walking away with $1000 Who are you rooting for?” Mlalazi asked.

Inspired by his chart-topping hit “Munondida Ndakadaro” (from the acclaimed album Great God), Mlalazi opened the studio doors, so to speak, to the nation.

He asked everyday artists to add their own verse to his beloved track, to post it, and to dare to dream.

And Zimbabwe answered.

From the living rooms and home studios across the country, hundreds of entries flooded in, each one a testament to the vibrant, beating heart of local gospel talent. But after the dust settled on the March 13th deadline, the real suspense began.

The sea of hopefuls has been narrowed down to a powerful Top Five, and now, the nation waits with them.

For one lucky winner, this moment will be unforgettable. They won’t just walk away with bragging rights; they will claim a life-changing $1,000 CASH prize courtesy of Everton Music—a financial boost that could kickstart a dream or elevate a ministry.

But the winner won’t be chosen lightly.

Every entry has been scrutinized with a careful eye, judged on a blend of raw talent and spiritual connection.

The adjudicators are looking for that special spark—the originality of the lyrics, the beauty of the melody, and how creatively artists weave their languages into the song.

Crucially, they are also watching you, the fans. The level of engagement, the likes, shares, and comments on the Facebook page, all play a part in determining who captures the hearts of the people.
