Local government leaders, ruling party officials, Members of Parliament, and key stakeholders gathered on Monday for a Joint Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) and Provincial Development Committee (PDC) meeting, underscoring a unified commitment to national progress.
Speaking at the event, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Marian Chombo, urged stakeholders to embrace collective responsibility in implementing resolutions aimed at national upliftment.
“Let us all work together to ensure the successful implementation of these resolutions, which will ultimately benefit our great nation of Zimbabwe,” she said.
The meeting tackled pressing issues facing communities, including the impact of climate change, rising malaria cases, and increasing drug abuse.
Honourable Chombo reiterated the government’s dedication to tackling these challenges in line with Zimbabwe’s development philosophy of “leaving no one and no place behind.”
Permanent Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Tafadzwa Muguti, echoed Chombo’s remarks, calling on provinces to take charge of their own development.
“Every province must work to uplift itself,” said Muguti, citing President Mnangagwa’s mantra: “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” – a nation is built by its own people.
He encouraged Mashonaland West to leverage its agricultural potential to drive economic growth. “You have a rich agricultural heritage – let’s utilize that to boost our economy and improve the lives of our people.”
Provincial Chairperson Cde Mary Mliswa-Chikoka emphasized the essential collaboration between the Party and government, stating that effective governance stems from the Party’s ideological leadership.
“The Party provides the ideological compass; the government implements policy; and the people are the foundation of national prosperity,” she explained.
Cde Mliswa-Chikoka, who also serves as the Provincial Secretary for Finance in Mashonaland West, has played a key role in advancing the Party’s development agenda across the province.
As the meeting progressed, a strong sense of unity and shared purpose emerged. Honourable Chombo, PS Muguti, and Cde Mliswa-Chikoka agreed to work collaboratively to advance the President’s vision and strengthen ties between the Party and the province.
Capturing the sentiment of the gathering, Youth League Chairman Cde Tapiwa Masenda declared: “The Party and the province are one and will remain one.”
The meeting concluded on a high note, with delegates departing reinvigorated and committed to building a prosperous future for Zimbabwe through partnership, self-reliance, and coordinated action.
