A record-breaking crowd gathered in Mashonaland West Province to commemorate Zimbabwe’s 45th Defence Forces Day—an occasion marked by pride, patriotism, and powerful displays of military strength and unity.
The celebrations featured dynamic exhibitions by the Zimbabwe National Army and Air Force, showcasing their capabilities, state-of-the-art equipment, and disciplined formations.
The festive atmosphere was further amplified by energetic performances from musicians and cultural groups, drawing cheers from the packed crowd.
In a message delivered on his behalf by Hon. Marian Chombo, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, President Emmerson Mnangagwa praised the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) for their steadfast dedication to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, peace, and territorial integrity.
The President emphasized the critical role the ZDF plays not only in defending the nation but also in supporting civil authority.
He highlighted their contributions in border control, the fight against drug and substance abuse, and their vital role in humanitarian efforts—particularly search and rescue missions during the recent rainy season, which brought relief to affected communities.
“The professionalism and commitment of our Defence Forces are vital to Zimbabwe’s continued peace and socio-economic progress,” the President noted.
“Their work in upholding law and order, and protecting our people and borders, remains invaluable.”
Attended by traditional leaders, senior government officials, veterans of the liberation struggle, and members of the public, the event was a vibrant showcase of national pride.
The military demonstrations and cultural performances reflected the discipline, unity, and enduring spirit of Zimbabwe’s Defence Forces.
As the nation celebrates this 45-year milestone, the message was clear: the Zimbabwe Defence Forces remain a pillar of strength, stability, and development.
Their service continues to inspire unity and resilience as Zimbabwe looks toward a secure and prosperous future.
