WrestleMania 40: The Show That Was Too Big for the Philly Skyline
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania… the city of brotherly love, cheese-steaks, and wild wrestling crowds. So it only makes sense that WrestleMania 40 took the biggest stage of them all and delivered the madness in a way only WWE could.
This was the night where everyone and their uncle had something to prove, and we had front-row
seats to history in the making. From shocking returns to unexpected twists, this was WrestleMania
at its absolute finest.
Night 1 Highlights
The Bloodline vs. Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins: The night’s main event was a tag team match that set the stage for a Bloodline Rules stipulation in the big main event on Night 2.
The Rock and Roman Reigns got the win, making things even more personal between Reigns and Rhodes for the following evening.
Sami Zayn vs. Gunther: A banger! Sami Zayn finally toppled Gunther, ending his historic 666-day reign as Intercontinental Champion. The Philly crowd was electrified by Zayn’s emotional triumph!
Rhea Ripley vs. Becky Lynch: Rhea retained the Raw Women’s Championship in a hard-hitting opener, proving why she’s the future of the division. The ‘Nightmare’ has become one of the top WrestleMania performers in recent years… keep an eye out for her once again in 2025!
Night 2 Highlights
Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns: The Bloodline Rules match saw Cody dethrone Roman after a crazy back-and-forth. Reigns’ 1,316-day title reign finally came to an end, as ‘The American Nightmare’ finally finished the story and claimed the title that was once so cruelly denied to his father.
Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins: Drew McIntyre took home the World Heavyweight Championship, but a huge surprise came when Damian Priest cashed in his ‘Money in the Bank’ contract and snatched the title right after! The ‘beef’ between McIntyre and Priest continues to be running theme right into 2025’s WrestleMania in Las Vegas!
Bayley vs. Iyo Sky: In a WWE Women’s Championship match, Bayley emerged victorious, starting a new chapter in the women’s division. ‘The Role Model’ completed a transformation from heel to babyface with this triumph and truly established herself as a future WWE legend.
