LIVERPOOL – UK-based Zimbabwean gospel singer, model, and pastor Walter Chahwanda, 33, has been arrested and charged with multiple sexual offences, including rape.
Chahwanda, who leads the Walter Chahwanda Ministries, was taken into custody on Thursday, March 13 following an investigation by Merseyside Police.
Nehanda News reports that Chahwanda has been charged with rape, assault by penetration, and sending an indecent image with intent to cause alarm, distress, or humiliation.
He appeared at Liverpool Adult Remand Court on Saturday, March 15, where he was remanded into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, April 14 at Liverpool Crown Court.
Chahwanda, who gained prominence in the Zimbabwean gospel music scene, previously hosted his ‘My Devotion’ Live DVD recording in 2015 at the Piccadilly Banqueting Suite in Birmingham.
