Tanga WekwaSando returns with ZAGGA

Zimbabwean township jazz artist Tanga WekwaSando makes a return to mainstream music scene with a new 15th album titled ZAGGA.

While he had taken a back seat from mainstream music in recent years to concentrate on production, promoting young talent and other spectra of the entertainment industry, he remains undoubtedly one of the most recognizable and loved musical brands in Zimbabwe.

And now, he is back with a back!

Launching his new 10 track album titled ZAGGA at the Theatre in the Park on Friday 26 November 2021.

A man who needs no introductions and whose reputations speaks for itself, Ernest Tanga Kambadzo Sando!

The music legend is coming out of his hiatus to bring soothing and groovy music back to his fans and those who love fine music. Well known as ‘Tanga wekwa Sando’, a popular Zimbabwean township jazz artist who gained popularity after releasing his debut album ‘WAKE’ in 2000 and continued to grow exponentially.

Tanga was born on the 1st of August 1954 and grew up in the suburb of Highfield in Harare, Zimbabwe.

To add on to his already illustrious stature, he holds an International Economics and Finance degree from the University of India, United States of America.

Tanga started his musical journey way before Zimbabwe gained its independence around the 1970s where he played the tambourine and the saxophone for the Salvation Army youth band.

His music is known for giving a unique feel that creates harmony in expressing numerous emotions at the same time and now he is taking it a step further and incorporating the use of an indigenous instrument like the Mbinde in his new album.

Tanga wekwa Sando is one of the few remaining artistes from Zimbabwe’s golden generation and has been recognized as a master of his art as a NAMA award winner in the year 2004 & All Africa KORA Award nominee for best Southern African Artiste 2005 for his tracks like Wake, Nyenyedzi, Paidamoyo, WeKuMbare etc, old time bangers that topped the charts.

Tickets for the launch will be available from these centres Theatre in the Park, Joina City, Avondale and Sam Levy Village going for $20 per person and group discounts for more than 15 people will apply.
