Singer/songwriter — Tamy Moyo — debuted her latest video “Do My Own Thing” on August 6, 2022 on YouTube.
The swanky music video was #25 on trending for music since its release only a few hours ago. It’s not hard to see why.
“Do My Own Thing” is a reflective piece and it’s a forecast to the future.
It has a smooth opening with Tamy on the phone – “Oh my God you’re the queen in waiting, the world ain’t ready for you girl they never ready for what they’re about to witness” underpinned by a danceable Afro-centric beat.
The music video also incorporates an artfully arranged black and green montage of the artist’s performances mixed with daylight scenes out in the woods.
The uplifting lyrics and the smooth soulful tempo carries the song and delivers a message of freedom: “Ungamuteseiko, do your own thing”.
Tamy, the Zimbabwean celebrity songstress, is firmly in the limelight after the release of her long awaited album Bvudzijena.
She became the first person in Zimbabwe to drive the stunning Haval Jolion which is worth over US$30 000.
This was part of her endorsement deal with ZIMOCO, Zimbabwe’s official distributor of the Mercedes-Benz and a variety of other luxurious vehicles.
Tamy has had to clear several obstacles in her fledgling career, one of which is the stigma attached to female musicians.
And she has used social media to reach out to a wider audience and other artists for collaborations.
To be where she is today, Tamy has had to make some tough decisions, to pursue her dreams.
One of these decisions was to put her music career ahead of her educational commitments, at least for now.
And she is aiming at conquering Africa but are you ready for her?
The video “Do My Own Thing” is out now across all the usual streaming platforms – add this one to your playlists.
