Zanu PF Central Committee member and business mogul Dr Kuda Tagwirei yesterday issued a firm endorsement of President Mnangagwa’s proposed leadership beyond 2028, urging party structures to back what he described as a period of empowerment, productivity and expanded national wealth creation.
Addressing thousands at the Zone 6 Inter-district Meeting at Rufaro Stadium, Dr Tagwirei said extending the President’s tenure to 2030 would consolidate gains made under the Second Republic and accelerate economic transformation already reshaping key sectors.
He said President Mnangagwa had laid the foundation for broad-based empowerment and argued that continuity was vital for stability and investor confidence.
“We are standing at a moment where our nation is turning its potential into real prosperity, and that momentum must not be disrupted,” he said.
“The President has opened doors for production, for ownership, for genuine empowerment, and extending his leadership gives Zimbabwe the space to fully realise these gains.
“This is a period of empowerment, a period of making money, a period of taking Zimbabwe forward.”
Dr Tagwirei urged party structures to unite behind the term-extension drive, framing it as a strategic decision anchored in national interest.
“When we talk about 2030, we are not talking about an individual,” he said. “We are talking about policies that work, about consistency, about the future of our children and the wealth that must remain in the hands of Zimbabweans. Supporting the President is supporting the development we can all see taking shape.”
The call for continuity comes as the party advances Resolution Number 1, adopted at the 2024 Zanu PF Annual National People’s Conference, which proposes extending President Mnangagwa’s mandate to safeguard policy stability, protect ongoing national projects and sustain progress toward Vision 2030.
Dr Tagwirei’s strong endorsement is expected to galvanise support within Harare Province structures as discussions around the resolution intensify ahead of upcoming party meetings.
