Suspension of Karoi Town Council Secretary Raises Eyebrows

Karoi Town Engineer William Chikwanda has been appointed Acting Town Secretary with immediate effect after the suspension of acting Secretary Togai Namusala as announced in a letter circulated among stakeholders.

The official suspension notice, signed by Karoi Town Council Chairman Elderman K. Chigumo, states, “Our esteemed stakeholders and colleagues are hereby notified of the suspension of the Acting Town Secretary Mr Tongai Namusala with immediate effect.”

The letter further notes that Chikwanda‘s appointment is temporary, pending a thorough review by the council.

According to sources within the council, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, Namusala’s suspension is linked to allegations involving undisclosed funds intended for the lead planner working on the town’s master plan.

The situation has reportedly escalated to the Karoi Police, indicating the seriousness of the claims.

Efforts to reach Chairman Chigumo for comments were unsuccessful, as he was reportedly unavailable by phone.

This lack of communication raises questions about the council’s transparency regarding this significant development.

As Karoi Town grapples with leadership changes, the community is left wondering about the implications of these allegations on local governance and future planning initiatives.
