CANAL+ has announced that its MultiChoice subsidiary, SuperSport, has secured broadcast rights for the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations tournament being hosted in Morocco in December and January.
Gerald Ngonyamo, head of corporate affairs and public relations of MultiChoice Zimbabwe, said SuperSport coverage would be given to the tournament in Portuguese and English-speaking countries across Africa, including Zimbabwe.
“Starting Sunday December 21, the continent will rally around the ultimate African football event and SuperSport will be at the heart of it all, sharing all the coverage and all the surrounding activity,” he said.
“AFCON is not just about football. It’s about pride, passion, and the power of unity. From Cairo to Cape Town, Lagos to Harare, this is the moment Africa’s family comes together.
“As the official broadcaster, SuperSport is committed to ensuring fans experience every thrilling moment, whether from the comfort of their living rooms, in bustling fan zones or surrounded by friends and family.
“This year’s AFCON theme, The Family Meets, celebrates simultaneously Africa’s diversity and its unity. Through all that it sets out to do, this tournament captures the essence of AFCON, which is a festival of football that belongs to all Africans.”
The tournament will again be a major event, where legends rise, dreams are born and history is written in the language of goals. But beyond the pitch, it’s about something even greater: togetherness.
“We see it as a reminder of Africa’s strengths and we see the theme as celebrating the unity of people across the continent, a ‘beautiful gam’ convergence of 24 nations into one passion and countless stories of pride and belonging,” said Mr Ngonyamo.
AFCON 2025, which is the 35 th edition of this prestigious tournament, will showcase Africa’s top talent, from Victor Osimhen and Mohamed Salah to Sadio Mané, Rowen Williams, Riyad Mahrez, Achraf Hakimi and Marshall Munetsi.
SuperSport’s coverage will include all matches screened live, as well as substantial pre and post-event discussion, previews, reviews and commentary.
“We are excited to be able to present this continental showpiece to audiences in Zimbabwe, who will be following every goal, every cheer and every moment. When AFCON 2025 kicks off, the world will be watching and we will be there with them all,” he said.
