At least two red carpets will be rolled out to guests at the 21st edition of National Arts Merit Awards this Saturday.
The NAMAs which is the biggest awards show in Zimbabwe will see 59 artists performing on stage across all artists disciplines at the Harare International Conference Centre.
The red-carpet treatment starts at 3:30 while the pre-show starts from 3:30pm to 5pm with DJ mixing on the decks.
And between 5pm to 6pm the red-carpet show performance start and the pre-show will see songstress Feli Nandi and Mwenje Mathole entertaining guests in the main auditorium.
The awards show will start at 7pm up until 11pm which gives music lovers and guests a four-hour non-stop entertainment.
Napoleon Nyanhi, the executive director and producer of NAMA confirmed there is going to be lots of entertainment.
Nyanhi said as Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation, the organisers of NAMA they wanted to make the event a prestigious one.
“We are hoping to take NAMA to the same levels as the Grammys, Metro Awards and even the SAMAs through giving value and glitz and glam,” he said.
Nyanhi said this year’s NAMAs will be beamed live on ZBCTV but viewing audience will have a delayed screening because of the main news bulletin at 8pm.
“We have been in talks with ZBCTV but the show will be screen on the station after the main news,” he said.
National Arts Council of Zimbabwe deputy director Josia Kusena said they were happy with JCMC partnership and thanked sponsors— Old Mutual Zimbabwe and CBZ Bank for honouring the artists.
The event will run under the theme, Unlocking Dreams, which represents the coming of age of Zimbabwe’s most prestigious awards ceremony.
Popular emcee Godfrey ‘Chief’ Koti, musician Gemma Griffiths, and Charlene Mangweni-Furusa will host 21st annual National Arts Merit Awards.
