All is set for an electrifying encounter in Rimuka Kadoma as CUMA Academy and Kadoma City FC renew their rivalry in a crunch Mashonaland West Division 2B local derby match set for this Sunday at Rimuka Stadium.
Taking place at 1500hrs, this highly anticipated showdown promises to deliver non-stop action, drama and excitement as both teams battle for bragging rights.
This eagerly awaited one of the local derbies of the season, promises to showcase the best of Kadoma football talent and fans need to get ready for fireworks as these two teams square off and this match is expected to draw hundreds of passionate fans eager to witness their team to emerge victorious.
This derby is going to be more than just a game, but it will also be about pride, passion and boasting rights and every time these two teams face, it will be like a final.
This rivalry date back when these two teams met at the same venue and the match was abandoned in the 65′ minutes due to crowd disturbance with the match still tied at 1 all and this time fans are expected to see some of the most memorable moments in Kadoma football history as both teams boast of young and energetic football stars.
CUMA Academy also known as ‘Tigers ‘ need nothing short of victory after they dropped two points last week when they held Ingezi United to a nil all draw whilst Kadoma FC’ yemunyanza‘ is bubbling with confidence after they beat second of the table team Venice FC 2-0 thanks to first half brace by Aaron Grose and a win by either team, will boost their chances of clinching the top honours come end of the season.
Tigers have so far accumulated 32 points from 15 games and are lying 4th on the log whilst City has 26 points from same number of games. Both teams have solid defence with CUMA considing only 7 goals and yemunyanza‘s solid defence backed by their captain Tatenda Chamunorwa has considered 8 goals and the match will be won at the middle of the pack.
CUMA Academy struggled during their last match drawing away at Ingezi United and this coming game the team will be banking on the fine form of speedy winger Panashe Kapito and striker Tinaye Kandira and goalkeeping heroics of Lower 6 student Tafadzwa “headmaster” Kamina to help them carry the day and win against City.
Kadoma City FC is still in cloud nine after they dispatched Venice Fc and the rich fine form of striker Lloyd Muzhuzha and linkman Misheck Muzhuzha they can make the team register an important win.
Speaking to CUMA Academy head Coach Ignatius Alfonzo, he said that they dropped points last weekend, and they did their homework and he said the team was ready for the crucial match.
“We have worked hard to address our weaknesses after we dropped two crucial points last week, but we are confident of getting a positive result,” said Alfonzo
“Every time we face Kadoma City FC, it is like a final, the intensity and the energy, it’s unmatched.” continued Alfonzo
Kadoma City FC captain Tatenda Chamunorwa said the team was ready for the battle and that they were going to come up victorious. He further said that they were still in winning mood after their important win against second placed Venice and they were going to continue from where they left last weekend.
“We are more than ready for the match and we know that CUMA is a tough opponent, but we are ready for the challenge,” said Chamunorwa.
