Passengers Association of Zimbabwe is imploring government under its arms of law enforcement and implementation to find ways to deal with errant kombis not affiliated to associations as they are causing chaos in major termini around towns and their use of undesignated pick up points.
Affected cities and towns should enforce their by laws by arresting those flaunting these laws.
Kombi crews are harassing passengers, they short change them, disregard ones bus stop or drop off point if in disagreement on rate and change.
At Simon Muzenda Bus Termini the situation is not health at all since these errant kombi crews block entrance, exits and bays as they like. This causes unnecessary delays in loading and leaving of buses.
Today a female passenger was abused by crews of a certain errant kombi. The passenger wanted to disembark at Tenda Masasa but because the conduct did not to give her unmixed change( US and Bond) they decided to drop her in Ruwa- George some 15km away as a way of punishing her for requesting her change in US$ since the journey cost a US$1 from town to Masasa.
The errant kombis are unhealthy for passengers since they have hard boards as ventilation and transparent windows. We are asking passengers against boarding such kind of vehicles as they are unroadworthy and the crews have no limitations on proper conduct.
Their behavior is inhuman although they leave their homes to look for money from the same people they harass and regard as villains as soon as they board their vehicles and collected money from them.
The government should speed up the pace at which it is making regulations on the reintroduction of kombis.
