The ferocity of Manchester United v Arsenal, Barcelona and Real Sociedad’s stylish clash, and a potential thriller between Atalanta and Roma will be the headline matches from the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A, with fixtures scheduled to be played from Friday 10 to Monday 13 May 2024.

Manchester United and Arsenal have a long history of enmity in the Premier League and hostilities will be renewed on the late afternoon of Sunday 12 May when they meet at Old Trafford.

The round opens early on Saturday afternoon with Fulham hosting Manchester City at Craven Cottage, as manager Marco Silva admits that the Citizens offer a “different” challenge to all other teams in the league.
“They are different than all the others, they are,” Silva said. “We have to be realistic, we have top teams in this competition. They are different, and they are probably the most difficult team to play against in my opinion as well. Not just in the Premier League, I think in Europe as well. Many managers, they will agree with me.”
Saturday also features key relegation battles later in the day, as Burnley play away to Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest welcome Chelsea to the City Ground, while Monday’s lone match closes out the round when Aston Villa host Liverpool in Birmingham.
“We have to be very, very competitive. We have to face them trying to be close to them, individually, collectively and tactically,” said Villa manager Unai Emery. “It’s going to be very difficult. It’s a very big challenge because it’s not only about the result but about how we are, how we can face them.”
SuperSport is the only place where you can get English commentary on the legendary La Liga, where Barcelona hosting Real Sociedad at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium in Montjuic promises to provide an attack-minded and stylish clash.
Barca won a hard-fought clash 1-0 in the Basque country when the teams last met, in November 2023, and they will be determined to claim a win and continue their strong late-season form under coach Xavi, who is set to leave the club at the end of the season.
“We have always been with the coach to death and as long as he is with us it will be yes, we hope it will be many days,” said star Barcelona midfielder Pedri. “He grew up at Barça and we try to defend the club like he did as a player. I hope you think again, Xavi, and stay for a long time.”
The round also features Atletico Madrid chasing a home win over Celta Vigo at the Metropolitano Stadium. Atletico manager Diego Simeone hopes his team is inspired by Saul Niguez, who always provides energy and enthusiasm when given the chance to don the Rojiblancos’ shirt.
“Saul has always maintained the same spirit to work. He has shown humility to accompany the
club,” said Simeone. “Now he plays a little less, but I always keep in mind his ability and he
brought out things that we were used to. He scored goals, like Marcos, who has to return to do
them because they gave us a lot.”
Champions elect Real Madrid, meanwhile, will face a tricky match away to Granada, but midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni believes they have enough quality and options in the squad to always find a path to victory.
“We have a very important squad. I remember [Jude] Bellingham's home goal against Getafe or [Luka] Modric's,” said the Frenchman. “We have a squad with a lot of quality and we know that in the end a player will demonstrate his quality, score a goal and help the team get the three points.”
This round of La Liga also features Villarreal hosting Sevilla at Estadio de la Ceramica, Osasuna
visiting Athletic Bilbao and Rayo Vallecano heading to Estadio de Mestalla for a match against
Valencia. Atalanta and Roma have played some of the best football in Serie A since the turn of the year and their meeting at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo promises to provide a battle of attack-minded outfits which are both in the midst of a scrap for berths in next season’s European competitions.
One of the driving forces behind La Dea’s form is striker Gianluca Scamacca, who reveals that his game has changed since he joined the team in blue and black stripes.
“Since I arrived here, there has been a big change in the way I approach games, the amount I run, the intensity I put onto the pitch,” said the 25-year-old.
Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini also believes Serie A is a brutal league which tests his side every week – as will certainly be the case against Roma.
“Every team is well-drilled, they have values, pace and heart, you just need to see the results from this round,” said the white-haired tactician. “If it was an Atalanta problem, I would be more worried, but it’s just what our league is like.”
Elsewhere, Internazionale will continue to wind down their successful season with a clash away to Frosinone, while rivals AC Milan will welcome Cagliari to the iconic San Siro – with Rossoneri boss Stefano Pioli insisting that speculation over his future is futile until the season draws to a close.
“It changes nothing for me, because the next match is always the most important,” said Pioli. “If this is the case, then I will prepare them the best way possible. My future will be decided at the end of the season, as it has been throughout my time here at Milan.”
The round also features Lazio hosting Empoli, Bologna visiting Napoli and Juventus welcoming Salernitana – with former Juve director Luciano Moggi insisting that the club’s board should be happy with the work done by manager Massimiliano Allegri.
“Max [Allegri] was given a midfield that wasn't up to the standard of Juve, there was no leader capable of supporting the group in difficult moments. This is the genesis of the negative period, the Bianconeri collapsed when Inter began to fly,” said Moggi. “However, looking at the standings, Allegri is right: third place is right for his team, considering the existing balance of power.”
