The National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) 2025 were packed with thrilling performances, but one act that truly stole the show was Oriyano aka Senator!
The rising star, making his debut on the prestigious stage, delivered a performance that had the crowd roaring in excitement.
And if anyone was still wondering whether Oriyano is his own artist or just another copy of Jah Prayzah, the night gave them a clear answer—he is his own man, and he owns the stage!
From the moment he stepped onto the platform, Oriyano had the audience hooked. He kicked things off with a soul-stirring rendition of “Ndakuda (Super Glue),” surprising fans by playing the piano while a choir provided beautiful harmonies.
The unexpected twist elevated the song, setting the perfect mood for an unforgettable night.
Then came the energy shift! Oriyano briefly left the stage, making way for Bragga, only to return with explosive energy.
As he launched into his hit “Makarima Mupoto,” the crowd went wild, chanting along as he commanded the stage with electrifying dance moves and his signature call—”Senator!”
The performance was a rollercoaster of rhythm, transitioning into an infectious Rhumba vibe that had everyone on their feet. This marked Oriyano’s first-ever live performance in Harare before a massive audience, and he absolutely nailed it!
Even veteran promoter Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza of Chipaz Promotions was left impressed.
“It was a great performance! My advice to him is to stay humble and levelheaded—if he does that, he has a bright future in music,” Chipaz said.
With such a powerful debut, Oriyano has officially announced his arrival in the big leagues. The question is no longer whether he is the next big thing—it’s how far will he go?
