Nigerian star pays homage to Ginimbi amid lackluster act

Expectation was high among fans that Nigerian star – Joeboy — would live up to the hype in the build up to his maiden concert at the Borrowdale Racecourse in Harare but alas, it was all in vain.

Joeboy’s performance was uninspiring and a big yawn to say the least.

And midway his act, he tried to whip up emotions from the sellout crowd that kept gazing and wondering when he would turn on his mojo.

Song after song the show anti-climaxed and sadly, he had to pay homage to late socialite Genius Ginimbi Kadungure who for obvious reasons couldn’t be part of the show.

“Rest in peace Ginimbi,” he screamed evoking memories of the late socialite Ginimbi, who was the king of bling and life of the party.

Ginimbi died two years ago in a car crash together with three other friends including Zimbabwe’s own Mitchelle Amuli aka Moana, a name she got from the Disney animation film of the same title.

And months before his death Ginimbi brought Davido to Harare for a gig dubbed as 30 Billion Dollar Concert.

Ginimbi loved Amapiano, Afro-beat and a huge fan of Joeboy.

And while Joeboy’s lousy act continued he was descent enough to perform one of Ginimbi’s favourite songs called Baby. And that was it.

Joeboy also performed songs including Call, Don’t Call Me Back, All For You, Lonely, Focus, Beginning, Love Nwantiti, Nobody and Alcohol.

Infinity spokesperson Collin “Kodza” Manyore was happy with the huge turnout that had some of Zimbabwe’s top celebrities and socialites.

“What I love about Zimbabwe is that you guys love to party,” he confirmed before jamming Sip (Alcohol).

Coming on stage after an electrifying performances by Jah Prayzah, dancehall singer Jah Master and hip-hop rappers Takura and King 98, Joeboy failed to live up to expectation.
