Dance has long been a universal language, transcending borders and cultures to bring people together in a shared celebration of movement and expression.
This week, the National Dance Association of Zimbabwe is proud to conduct the National Intensive Dance Workshop, a vibrant gathering of dancers, teachers Adjudicators, and enthusiasts from across Mashonaland Region.
This prestigious training promises to be a kaleidoscope of colors, sounds, and rhythms, showcasing the rich diversity of traditional and contemporary dance styles that make our nation so unique.
Over the course of three days, the participants will come together to learn, share, and perform, creating a dynamic tapestry of dance that reflects the very fabric of our society.
This hands-on workshop will offer a unique opportunity to learn and appreciate the complexity of dance, its history, and its relevance in contemporary society during the workshop set to be held at Munyaradzi Primary School in Kadoma from the 29th-31st of August 2024.
The 3-day event is designed to equip dance instructors, teachers, adjudicators and enthusiasts with expert training and knowledge in various aspects of dances.
Speaking to the president of National Dance Association of Zimbabwe (NDAZ) Mr Farai Meki, he said the workshop will have lectures and practical sessions led by experienced professionals and the workshop is expected equip upcoming instructors with skills to impact to schools.
“The workshop is open to all people from various aspects like Association Members, Youths out of school, schools, Dance lovers, Adjudicators, trainers and the workshop will be conducted by NDAZ and External who include Mr Edson Kuseka( Masvingo), Phineas Magwati ( Midlands State University) and Richard Ndlovu,( Senior Dance Practioners, Bulawayo and National Arts Council of Zimbabwe National Accredited Adjudicators” said Mr Meki.
According to the Association’s President, the comprehensive program will comprise three Classes and Class A will be for Instructors, Teachers and Resource Persons Training whereas Class B will be Adjudicators Training level 1 and 2 whilst Class C will be Mhande/Amabhiza Intensive Training.
“The comprehensive 3-day program will comprise three classes and Class A will be Instructors, teachers and Resource Persons Training, whereas Class B will be Adjudicators Training level 1 and 2 with Class C being Mhande/ Amabhiza Intensive Training,” said Meki
“The program will also feature a contemporary dance competition and presentations of dances by community groups.” Continued Mr Meki
The much awaited workshop is expected to equip Upcoming Instructors with skills to impact in Schools and this will also assist on Employment Creation and fighting of use of drugs and the training of Adjudicators who will assist in the monitoring and supervision of National Association of Primary Heads (NAPH) and National Association of Secondary Heads (NASH) Competitions.
The participants should be ready to move their bodies and connect with their roots and the upcoming national dance workshop is a unique opportunity to delve into the rich cultural heritage of Mashonaland Region.
Youths, teachers, schools, Dance groups and Adjudicators must be ready to explore the vibrant world of dances, led by experienced instructors who will guide them through the steps, rhythms, and stories behind these timeless movements and whether one is a seasoned dancer or a curious beginner, this workshop promises to be an unforgettable journey of discovery, connection, and celebrations.
