One of the biggest gospel musicians in Zimbabwe Everton Mlalazi is set to perform at this year’s 22nd edition of the National Art Merit Awards scheduled for 24 February.
The 22nd edition will be held under the theme: “#Kwan22” from Kwantuthu Ziyathunqa, resonating with the spirit and essence of the 22nd edition.
This is the third time Bulawayo, the creative hub of the nation, will host the prestigious awards.
It will be a celebration of fashion, arts and interactive discussions making the event a significant milestone on the cultural calendar.
The Zita Renyu singer was born and bred in Bulawayo affectionately known as the City of Kings and Queens.
As he grew up, Mlalazi became an ardent member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church where he horned his musical skills.
His return to perform in Bulawayo’s Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre (Hall 3) will feel a lot like performing before a home crowd.
Other performing artistes are Tamy Moyo, Albert Nyathi, Baba Harare, Bhekiwe, Msiz’kay, MJ Sings, Master H, Calvin Mangena, Noluntu J, Ngoma iNgoma, and a few exciting surprises.
Preparations for the awards ceremony have since gathered momentum with rehearsals commencing last December.
Organisers have already hosted a Golf Day and dance auditions, setting the stage for what promises to be one of the best editions in years.
