Women from the Makonde Administration District recently gathered at Alaska Hall with a shared vision: to build a brighter future for themselves, their communities, and Zimbabwe.
Constance Shamhu, the Provincial Chairlady and leader of the Provincial Women’s League, confidently addressed the crowd of enthusiastic women.
By her side was Angela Nyenyai, Deputy Secretary for Local Government and a national member of ZANU PF from the Hurungwe Administration District.
“This is more than just a slogan—it’s a call to action,” Shamhu declared. “A call for each of us to take ownership of our development, to support one another, and to work tirelessly toward a brighter future for our province and our nation.”
She emphasized the importance of President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 strategy: Leave No One, No Place Behind.
“This vision is our guiding principle, our north star. We must focus on empowering every woman in every corner of our province to ensure that no one is left behind,” she added.
Angela Nyenyai echoed these sentiments, underlining that women’s empowerment is vital not only for gender equity but for national progress.
“This is not just a women’s issue; it’s a national imperative. When women thrive, our communities thrive. When women are empowered, our nation is empowered,” she said.
“Let us work together, with unity and determination, to achieve the goals set before us.”
For the women of Makonde, the gathering marked a renewed commitment to development and a future where every Zimbabwean woman lives with dignity and purpose.
As they left Alaska Hall, their resolve was clear—they were ready to embrace the challenges ahead and help shape a prosperous future for themselves, their communities, and their country.
