CAPTION STORY: A fine artist — Luke Snow — has paid homage to generational music royalty and one socialite — Ginimbi Kadungure in a new painting of the dearly departed musicians.
From Oliver Mtukudzi, Tongai Moyo, Calvin, Soul Jah Love to comedian Lazarus Boora aka Gringo.
All these people touched so many people’s lives in one way or the other and their impact is still felt long after they left.
Most people still have fond memories of Ginimbi who died in a car accident and stories of how he made his millions are still shrouded in mystery. As for Mtukudzi, his music is still relevant today as it was back then and also Dhewa most people now appreciate his musical prowess so much so that Sungura fans are beginning to think the genre died with him. The same is said of Soul Jah Love, who lies at the provincial heroes’ acre in Warren Park.
A good number of Zim dancehall think Soul Jah Love is irreplaceable and also the genre is poorer without him while rapper Calvin, his death robbed of the industry of a talented star whose time came too soon. Gringo also left an indelible mark on the local show business and many still talk about how he left ZBCTV viewing audiences glued to the screen.
The painting simply titled Till We Meet Again 2.0 The Park Reunion was posted on Twitter and has so far received over 4900 likes from followers.
