ANOTHER celebrity relationship in Zimbabwe has turned sour, this time between singers Anita Jaxson and Poptain.
Anita Jaxson says she feels disrespected after her relationship with Poptain went sour.
But what started off as a publicity stunt for the two turned real months down the line.
In an interview with Star FM hostess Tendai Sokostina Garwe, aka Queen Kong, on The After Drive Show, Anita cleared the air admitting that she and Poptain dated for a year.
According to the 23-year-old songstress, it was all rosy up until Poptain’s wife got wind of the affair.
“Okay, let me take it to the beginning where it all started and today I’m gonna dish it out as it is,” said Anita.
“I’m not going to disrespect anyone in anyway. I’m going to tell the truth, so that first interview was done with Zimcelebs. We did that interview together so Poptain was in one car I was in another car right, two of us and the reason we had wanted to plan the story and we knew that if we were going to say we are together people would be like argh . . . kiss . . . or show that you really together so we decided to do it in separate cars and we had spoken about it.”
Anita insisted that it was Poptain who caused the messy break-up by going on radio denying that they ever dated.
“I’m tired of looking like I’m the one that instigated this by myself right . . . this relationship has been going for what, like a year. So we (were) not together but we were together on social media I have my boyfriend and Poptain also has his thing going on but we respected each other. That’s why you never ever saw us in public kissing or holding hands just to sell, its showbiz. We were selling showbiz.”
She explained when pressed further to comment about their publicity stunt: “I want everybody to think about this. If I instigated this by myself, if I went and say oh I’m with Poptain why would you do shows with me. We travelled to Joburg, Cape Town and Durban with me. Why would you shoot a video with a million views with someone who lied, with someone who embarrassed you and your wife as you said in your interview? If someone lied that they are dating me I would issue a statement. Why would you post me on your social media for a whole year?
“You know what when we sold ‘us’ as a relationship so many people loved it and the reason we ended up in a relationship it’s not that we decided we wanna be in a relationship. We didn’t even think of that but pressure everybody was like you guys look together, why don’t you guys date and we decided to give people what they wanted and we sold people Anita and Poptain as a whatever you call it.”
However, Anita said there was no love lost between them although she felt disrespected by Poptain.
“But the love that Poptain and I have for each other is there. I feel like he disrespected me because he went on with the deal for long. If I were a bad person why would he not pull me aside and say you know what, I’m not happy with what you were doing. Why did u agree to do all those things. Why did he ride along like that I think he shouldn’t blame people (but he should) be responsible and don’t come here and play victim and when you felt the pressure and if it was causing tension in your home. You go on and do interviews and make me look I was having a relationship by myself.”
Apparently, Anita said she was friends with Poptain’s wife and she said she understood her position after all the pressure from social media users. And she knew from the outset that Poptain was a married man.
Poptain in his previous interview on ZTN said he regretted that the “thing went too far” and affected his wife.
He said the affair was not something he was proud of and vowed that it would not happen again especially with people he held discover like Anita Jaxson.
He also admitted that he bowed to pressure from industry which made him to fall for Anita Jaxson.
