Zimbabwe’s tourism sector has received a major boost following Cabinet’s approval of the Lot 1 Jafuta Estate Development project in the Masuwe Special Economic Zone for Tourism in Victoria Falls.
First envisioned back in 2012, the long-awaited project is finally taking shape — marking what the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry calls “a defining milestone” in the country’s tourism infrastructure and investment landscape.
Through its development arm, Mosi-oa-Tunya Development Company, the Ministry is contributing land equity — a strategic move designed to unlock private sector investment and fast-track destination development.
So, what’s coming to Victoria Falls? A lot. The transformative project will feature:
- An international multi-purpose cricket stadium (already under construction)
- Medical facilities
- A golf estate
- Hotels, villas, chalets, and lodges
- A commercial centre and holiday homes
- The Victoria Falls Stock Exchange and financial district
- A shopping mall
- A tourism academy
According to the Ministry, the development will elevate visitor experiences, stimulate local economic growth, and align with Zimbabwe’s National Development Strategy 2 — reinforcing the country’s ambition to become a competitive, sustainable, and high-value tourism destination.
For travelers and investors alike, all eyes are now on Victoria Falls as this long-held national vision finally moves from blueprint to reality.
