Following the success of Urban Grooves concert held in Harare at the Venue early this month, organisers — Kayse Connect — are taking the same concept to Dunstable Conference Centre, UK.
The Harare concert drew larger than anticipated crowd so much so thousands of music fans were turned away.
And those lucky enough to be part of the sold-out crowd they enjoyed every minute of the concert singing along to almost every track.
And the performing artistes gave their all proving to all and sundry that Urban Grooves still has a place on the local music scene.
And now Kayse Connect are spreading their wings to the UK to make sure Zimbabweans in the diaspora also relive the good old days when Urban Grooves was the in THING.
The urban grooves movement started out around 2000s with several as yet to be discovered talented musicians popped up.
These were fresh voices others were into RnB, soul, house, reggae/dancehall and hip-hop.
A number of equally talented producers the likes of Take 5, TBA, Fortune Muparutsa and Delani Makhalima also emerged.
Taking advantage of government’s 75 percent local content drive, Urban Grooves’ popularlity grew on radio as well as in pubs.
And artistes billed to perform in the UK include Maskiri, Leonard Mapfumo, Tererai, Madiz, Sani Makhalima, Trevor Dongo, Ngoni Kambarami, Alexio Kawara, Decibel and Extra Large.
The gig is slated for 28 August 2023 starting at 5pm until midnight. The show is supported by John Cole and Colenation as well as King Alfred.
