Kariba– Preparations for the 45th Independence Day celebrations in Kariba District are in full swing, with infrastructure enhancements nearly complete to accommodate a large crowd at Nyamhunga Stadium.
The festive atmosphere is palpable as the community prepares for an event that promises to be unforgettable.
During a final meeting held at the stadium, Mr Aneli Desmond Gumbochuma, the District Development Coordinator, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming celebrations.
“Kariba will experience a celebration like never before, featuring a wide array of entertainment and festivities,” he stated, emphasizing the significance of the day as a time to honor both fallen and living heroes.
The commemorations will unite Kariba with the rest of the nation as they reflect on the hard-won independence.
“We expect a full house, even an overflow, as everyone is excited about the festivities,” Gumbochuma noted.
The day will be filled with soccer matches, musical performances, and traditional dances, creating a vibrant showcase of culture and community spirit.
This year’s celebrations will be centered around the theme “Zim@45: Devolve and Develop Together Towards Vision 2030,” highlighting the country’s progress and future aspirations. Gumbochuma reiterated the importance of the theme, indicating it reflects a commitment to development and unity as the nation moves forward.
With just one day remaining until the festivities kick off on the 18th, the final rehearsal was held today. “We are ready, we are prepared for the provincial Day tomorrow,” he assured attendees.
As excitement builds, local businesses and vendors are also gearing up to participate in the event, anticipating a surge in visitors to the area.
The community spirit is strong, with residents eager to celebrate their independence and showcase the rich cultural heritage of Kariba District.
