Kadoma Gym Icon Calls for Help to Turn Dream into Reality

From Mr. Rhodesia to Gym Visionary: Kadoma Fitness Icon Seeks Support to Build Youth Empowerment Academy

Kadoma’s fitness legend, Matapeta Silas Chitsvuka, is calling for community support to help bring his dream of a state-of-the-art fitness academy to life – a dream that will empower local youth and promote a healthier future for all.

Chitsvuka, who began his bodybuilding journey in 1974 at the Kadoma Youth Centre, has had an illustrious career, including winning the Junior Mr Rhodesia title in 1976 and competing in several prestigious competitions, including the Mr. Zimbabwe contest.

For decades, he has been a pillar of strength and inspiration for many in his community, fostering a love for fitness and well-being among the youth.

In 2004, the Kadoma Town Council recognized Chitsvuka’s contributions by offering him space to establish a gym, which he named The Samsons Gym — a sanctuary for aspiring bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts.

The gym has become a beacon of discipline, with the motto “Big Strong Sober Samsons,” reflecting the values of drug-free training and promoting fitness as a healthy hobby.

“I’ve watched many of my trainees compete in national events, and it’s been incredible to see how fitness has transformed their lives,” Chitsvuka shared. “But now, my vision has grown even bigger.”

In recognition of his tireless efforts, this year the Kadoma Town Council has allocated Chitsvuka a 100×100 meter piece of land to build his dream gym — a modern fitness and sports academy that will cater to all ages and genders, offering not only bodybuilding and athletics but a variety of indoor physical activities as well.

“This academy will take sports and fitness in Kadoma to new heights. It’s a place for everyone, where health and fitness have no barriers,” said Chitsvuka.

However, despite his physical strength and passion, Chitsvuka, now a pensioner, faces financial challenges in bringing his dream to fruition. He humbly appeals for donations, whether in building materials or cash, to help create the first-class facility he envisions.

“I am hopeful that, with the support of kind-hearted individuals and well-wishers, this dream will become a reality,” he said. “Let’s put Kadoma on the map and ensure that fitness and health are accessible to everyone.”

Chitsvuka is available for contact through WhatsApp or direct calls to discuss donations or contributions to this noble cause.

Let’s join hands and help turn a vision into a legacy for the youth and the entire Kadoma community.
