Jah Prayzah tops the list of most streamed artists in Zimbabwe with his 2021 release Gwara.
While Gwara received rave reviews, the album has been performing steadily on the charts and also on digital platforms.
There’s no doubt that there are many different ways to stream music these days.
One of the more popular platforms for doing so, Spotify, has been on the rise in Jamaica for some time now.
The company usually releases a year-end list from different regions called, The Spotify Wrapped. Spotify Wrapped covers the top artists, songs, and in some cases, podcasts of the year
Gwara features tracks like Takarasima, Nyeredzi, Chimwe NeChimwe, Bvumbamira, Mbwende and Ndondzungaira along others.
The Tsviriyo singer has had 4 million streams in 169 countries while in second is rapper Holy Ten with 1.4 million streams in 134 countries.
In third place is ExQ aka Mr Putiti who recently dropped his album Milestone Verified. ExQ has 981.6k streams on Spotify in 141 cuntries while his colleague and former stablemate Nutty O also tearing up dance floors with 923.1K in 145 countries.
Other heavy hitters are South African amapiano giants DJ Maphorisa with 31.1 million streams in 176 countries and also his sidekick Kabza De Small with 24.2 million streams in 178 countries.
The figures laso indicate the music penetration for individuals artist for instance Jah Prayzah is big because his music influence is found in at least 169 countries.
The more countries an artiste has his music the more penetration as well as popularity.
