ILANGA, the iconic Zimbabwean band that serenaded older generations, is best remembered for its hit song titled True Love.
In the all-time classic, a lover demands “love true’ from their partner. But does true love really exists?
Dj Ngwazi, the rising South Africa-based amapiano singer, doesn’t seem to think so. Because, he has titled a latest song of his, Fake Love!
A new track called Fake Love samples Ilanga’s yester-year classic track — True Love, and it’s produced under Master KG’s Wanitwa Mos Entertainment.
Also featured on the track are Dr Tawanda and Nelcy B on vocals.
“Nditakure. . . usandiwisire pasi . . . ndidewoka . . . nditakure . . . usandiwisire pasi . . . no more fake love I want true love baby . . .” that’s the chorus.
The group, which is gaining traction on YouTube, has some music lovers going gaga.
In a post on his Instagram, the award-winning music producer and performer Master KG has already endorsed the song.
“Where are my Shona people Wanitwa Mos,” he posted a video of him vibing to the song.
Fake Love was released on YouTube some three weeks ago and like the original the theme is about real love.
While the beat has that Wanitwa Mos touch and feel, it retained the melody on the chorus, something that will bring back old memories when Ilanga was still intact.
