HAZ urges airlines to connect more local destinations

The Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe president Farai Chimba says there is need for airlines to connect more local tourism destinations leveraging on existing activities to create opportunities for accommodation and accessibility.

Chimba was explaining why airlines like Fastjet and Air Zimbabwe should consider connecting more of the country particularly in domestic destinations where there is demand at the just ended Aviation Forum during Sanganai Hlanangani World Tourism Expo in Bulawayo.

“I think what’s quite key when you look at demand is what we learn out of covid, we saw the rise of domestic demand for travelling and more exposure to products that are there.

“Zimbabwe then has probably one of the best destinations that you can talk about in the diversity of the products that are there,” he said.

“The business case is when you talk tourism you have got three aspect that you always consider access, accommodation and activities. So, there is a lot of opportunities that once you have access you now need to build around your opportunities and accommodation but the activities are already existing how do we harness those so that we go in into various parts of the country.”

He added: “I don’t think the caption to say “a world of wonders” is incorrect because every part of the country has something that you can go and experience and explore.

“When we look at eastern highlands for instance, we look at Masvingo and quite recently I think we all heard about kanyemba there is opportunities that are there how do we get people out there.”
