Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Minister, Dr Jenfan Muswere says ghost workers on government employ will soon end.
Speaking at the handover of 160 desktop computers under the ICTs4e-government Service Program in Harare recently, Dr Muswere said the computers would ensure smooth service delivery.
“For us to be able to have a paperless government and the key components of e-government program starts with the g-to-c when we now having government interacting with the citizens, it also focuses on the g-to-e, which is the government interacting with its employees, it also focuses on g-to-p which is the government interacting with the private sector, the business community.
“It also includes lastly, the g-to-g which is government ministries, departments and agencies interacting digitally by utilizing information communication technology,” Dr Muswere said.
“As a ministry we are proud of what POTRAZ has done we are proud because POTRAZ is utilizing the universal services fund in terms of postal telecommunications act for us to ensure that we leave no one and no place behind that also includes government departs in districts.
“It also includes provincial offices in the ministry Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare which therefore means the issue about ghost employees has come to an end.
“These machines will ensure hapana zvekuwedzera mazita because we are now digitalizing the entire ministry so this is the first phase.”
He continued: “It will ensure that there is smooth service delivery as we roll out the big projects, the social issues related to the vulnerable people we have done quite a lot in terms of ensuring that all the disabled people within Zimbabwe and also housed in various institution are also part of the digital economy this includes support that we have rendered in terms of providing assistive software technology for the disabled people to be part of the digital highway.”
Dr Muswere said hailed POTRAZ for creating a level playing field which would ensure that service delivery was improved across the country.
“Our core mandate is to ensure that we connect the unconnected we train the people we provide the necessary digital gadgets for us to be able to create a functional digital eco-ecosystem within government,” he said.
