The Forbes title is not just symbolic—it reflects Zimbabwe’s remarkable tourism revival, built on years of strategic promotion, rebranding, and a powerful “Open for Business” campaign aimed at attracting travellers, investors, and explorers alike.

“This is a proud moment for us,” said travel operator Tafadzwa Mandiwanzira. “It shows our efforts to rebuild Destination Zimbabwe are paying off. Investors and travellers alike are looking at Zimbabwe with fresh eyes.”

Food, Culture & Festivals: A Whole New Zimbabwe

Beyond safaris and scenery, Zimbabwe is carving out new tourism niches. The Ministry of Tourism recently launched a 12-cluster diversification strategy—with Gastronomy Tourism leading the way.

Thanks to the culinary advocacy of First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe even hosted the first-ever UN Tourism Gastronomy Conference in Africa in 2024—putting local cuisine on the global table.

The Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo has gone regional. This year’s edition in Mutare brought the Eastern Highlands into the limelight.

“All roads lead to Masvingo in 2026,” said Minister Rwodzi, “but Victoria Falls remains our crown jewel.”
