Former Black Spirits members regrouped and performed Wenge Mambo from their different countries across the world in a virtual gig in honour of late Oliver Mtukudzi.
The members comprising Munya Vially and bassist Enock Piroro now based in Canada, Mono Mukundu and Joze Sax based in Zimbabwe as well as ex Alick Macheso drummer — Obert Gomba — now based in South Africa came together for the intercontinental tribute to Mtukudzi online.
“Modern technology offers so many revolutionary possibilities, like playing together whilst being in different countries, or continents, making studio work borderless.
“During the strict lockdown periods the majority of my studio work was done this way. I have created hits with artists who I have never met in person for instance all songs I did with Kambo Boys in UK, South African Reggae artist Bongo Riot’s second SAMA award winning albums, etc. I also worked with Janet Manyowa as well as South Africa based producer Andrew Baird online.
“So we took advantage of this technological advantage to do our Samanyanga tribute, enjoy,” Mono Mukundu wrote on his Facebook page
