It’s not always possible to watch a television show as it is broadcast or record it for later viewing.
But the good news for DStv viewers is that DStv Catch Up allows them to do just that: catch up.
Liz Dziva, publicity and public relations manager of MultiChoice Zimbabwe, said the DStv Catch Up functionality had been available to Zimbabwean viewers for several years as a value-added service built into many viewers’ DStv bouquets.
“This very useful functionality is available from DStv Access upwards and enables each subscriber to source after broadcast a selection of shows available on his or her own package,” she said.
The content available is varied and wide, linked to licensing agreements between DStv and its content suppliers. It includes series, children’s programmes, films, sporting highlights and other shows.
Content is usually available on Catch Up within 24 hours of original broadcast and can be available between a few days and a few months, depending on licensing arrangements.
“Catch-up is available on the DStv website or through the DStv App and can be sourced through PVR decoders, which are able to store content,” said Ms Dziva.
No extra payment is required for this functionality, which is built into the package fee.
“Value-added services are an important part of the overall DStv service and as time goes on more add-ons will be made available to subscribers,” said Ms Dziva.
Feedback from viewers has highlighted the increasing popularity of DStv Catch Up, which has added an extra dimension to viewers’ access to content beyond recording. The feedback also points to the ease of activating the Catch-up process.
