Former radio personality — DJ Ollah 7 — is in the process of acquiring a community radio station license for his popular show.
The popular Podcaster real name Owen Madondo recently launched his show On the Spot at a lavish ceremony at Marina Casino, Long Cheng Plaza attended by some of the who’s who of Harare, socialites, weirdos, artists and fashionistas.
In an interview with ZiFM Stereo’s Chamvary on the Big Show Tuesday, Ollah 7 hinted he wanted to take his podcast to a wider audience.
“Yes, we are in the process of acquiring a community radio license,” he told Chamvary.
However, one of the highlights of the interview was when Chamvary exposed DJ Ollah 7 over the supposed tiff with socialite Jackie Ngarande.
Dj Ollah 7 had snapped saying the ‘beef’ was choreographed because Jackie Ngarande of the Takachimaster ChiGame Ichi fame wanted to make the interview viral.
Dj Ollah 7 last year unceremoniously left Zimpapers’ run Star FM before launching his own podcast called On the Spot, where he interviewed people from all walks of life.
Addressing his departure from Star FM at the time, DJ Ollah 7 said he wanted to grow his brand and the show.
However, insiders said there was a clash of interest between the powers-that-be at Star FM and Ollah 7.
So popular is the podcast that only last week he officially launched it with the support of his funders and some big brands.
So far, he has eight people on his employ and now looks ahead to growing his brand with the community radio station.
A community radio station serves a particular community and its content is targeted at that particular community which it operates from and is owned by the community.
Sadly, in Zimbabwe community radio stations are not for profit making and revenue is mostly donations from the community.
