The Cross-Border 4ED movement in Mashonaland West Province has launched a revolving fund aimed at boosting small-scale cross-border traders.
The official disbursement took place at Chinhoyi University of Technology, in a well-attended event that marked a key step in grassroots economic empowerment.
Minister of State for Mashonaland West, Hon. Marian Chombo, urged beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly and ensure timely repayments to allow others to benefit.
“This money is a revolving fund, and I urge everyone to bring it back within two months so that others can benefit as well,” she said.
“You see me happy today, but if you don’t pay back, you will see the other side of me.”
Hon. Chombo also took the opportunity to rally traders behind national development goals, calling on them to shun drug trafficking and instead align their work with President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, which targets an upper-middle-income economy.
“Let’s work together to uplift the ZANU PF flag and support the 2030 Vision of our President,” she added.
ZANU PF Provincial Chairman Mary Mliswa, represented by Gift Ndeyesayi, expressed appreciation for the initiative and pledged to monitor the fund’s impact closely.
National Chairperson DJ Masomere encouraged beneficiaries to put the funds to good use and revealed that border-crossing procedures will be improved to ease trade for small entrepreneurs.
The event drew government officials, community leaders, affiliates, and members of the public, reflecting growing momentum behind economic empowerment at the grassroots level.
