Classic263 Radio Turns 6 today!

By Givemore Manatsa

Today Friday, June 21, 2024 marks ZBC Classic263 Radio’s 6th Anniversary.

Its journey has been a tremendous one and a huge leap, from the time that it bagged The Megafest Award (2021) as The Best Radio Station through its Current Affairs, Health and conversations on Current Affairs issues.

In 2023, The Station’s Listeners Club was Officially Launched. It was a milestone achievement for the Station, with its Station Manager, Terrence Mapurisana, having introduced new programs for the Station. Sounds On Saturday with John Matinde and Friends, Saturday Nolstagia Shows with George Munetsi and the Sunday programs with Felix Nganjo Mutemi and Ronald D Train Chiwanza.

Probably the only station which boasts of owning a Coolest Couple in the listeners’ category, (Louis and Pam), radio addicts par excellence not mentioning the whole listenership locally and out of our mother land, their support is amazing.

Talk of Classic263 Producer/Presenters, one would mistaken them as members of the same family who grew up under the same roof, Carlton Majuru, Kudzie Marudza, Witness Matema, Tafadzwa Bvocheko, Bouncy Rue Chakanza, Natasha Mhandu, Fungai Masango-Willard, Moe Chanda, Kennedy Masawi, Obert Machiridza, Margaret Matibiri, Yeolanda Sigauke, Valentine Mabhugu, Tafara Matura, Rumbidzai Ai, Boss Lady, Hilton Mavise, Andrew Kiposa, Nicole Jamu, Ronald Sigauke, Richard Runzindi, Noble Mawungwa, Ian Vambe, Ngoni Masuku, Talent Chipangura, among others.

Their touch of class is extra ordinary. The music selection and line of programming is perfectly aligned.

Who would want to miss the weekend slots of the other legion of our broadcasters who now operate across the borders, some as far as the United Kingdom and South Africa, making the station go global indeed.

The adult contemporary station has proven to be very entertaining, educative and informative with such programs as The Zimbabwe Republic Police, Police Check, where all crime related incidents are updated week in week out live on air, Music and the Law, Health Box, Consumer Protection, among others, not forgetting the best listened to Reggae program, Reggae Rhythms on Sunday produced and presented by Terrence The Hotstepper Mapurisana where a number of artists such as Eric Donaldson, Freddie McGregor, Don Carlos, Burning Spear, Jimmy Cliff,Tony Rebel, Judy Mowatt, Kenyatta Hill, Leroy Sibbles, Marka B, have all been interviewed live on the Station.

All coming from Pockets Hill Studios, Highlands, Harare making the Station a World Class.

A radio station for adult contemporary music, adult contemporary content which also helps the youth,  the ZPCS Behind The Wall, a program that urges the youth to abstain from drug and substance abuse.

The station which is also livestreaming worldwide is now available on the newly introduced  Set Top Box Decoder by ZimDigital.

Happy Birthday to Classic263 Radio- Now we are talking!
