ZBC’s Classic263 Radio Station, a vibrant talk radio station celebrates its 3rd anniversary having proudly made steady progress, and a significant mark on the radio Broadcasting landscape.
The station was birthed out of the green and white SFM on June 21 2018 and rebranded to the gold and black colours of Classic263 that audiences have grown to love.
According to the Station Manager, Mr Terrence Mapurisana, the Station aims to satisfy its listeners and advertisers by providing educative and informative talk radio programming.
Over the past few years, the station has distinguished itself as a classic radio station that’s offers in-depth talk and plays music mainly from the 80s and 90s as well as current pop classics.
The station is the leader in keeping the nation informed on current affairs, and steers debate on critical issues to do with the development of the nation. It also provides a great dose of sport and entertainment programmes, said Mapurisana.
Since its inception Classic263 has managed to attract a broader audience adding a new vibrancy to the stations programming.
The station has attained a strong social media presence with Facebook followers. Twitter numbers are also on an upward trend. Classic263 has also managed to tap into the diaspora market through online streaming- www.classic263.co.zw and Facebook live streaming- @classic263.
The station boasts of an informative and progressive breakfast show programme in the form of the Grill. The programme has managed to provide substantial revenue for the station through advertisements. Classic sports also has the sports loving individual glued to the station weekdays at 5:15pm.
The station has also introduced new programmes such as Police Check which acts as a bridge between the public and the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
Classic263 has a strong team of presenters, both seasoned individuals such as Terrence ‘The radio commissioner general’ Mapurisana, Tashinga “The Voice of Reason” Masawi, Carlton “The Guitarman” Majuru, Witness ‘Uncle Chu‘ Matema, Kudzi ‘Mr Cool’ Marudza, Ronald ‘D-Train’ Chiwanza, Valentine The Good Guy Mabhugu, Hilton Mavise and the new, the likes of Dean Jombo ‘the coolest guy from Rusape’, Memory ‘ The Boss Lady’ Nkwe and Tafara Matura giving a good blend of personalities to the station line up.
