HARARE – Cimas Health Group will host the third edition of its Pedal to W3llness cycling event on Friday, September 27 at Borrowdale Office Park, Harare.
The event promotes cardiovascular fitness and healthy living under the theme: “Promoting Heart Health & Active Lifestyles.”
Organised by Cimas’ iGo Health and Wellness division, the event is open to cyclists of all ages and abilities, including children. Three race categories will be offered:
45km and 22.5km for adults
4.5km for children
Participants will be timed using electronic race bibs and awarded finisher medals.
Cimas CEO Vuli Ndlovu said the event supports the group’s mission to inspire healthier communities.
“We’re not just promoting physical activity but raising awareness on cardiovascular fitness as a pillar of overall well-being,” said Ndlovu.
The event aligns with World Heart Day on September 29, a global initiative to spotlight heart health. Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death globally, claiming nearly 18 million lives annually, according to WHO.
Registration is now open:
US$10 (bring your own bike)
US$25 (bike hire included)
Free for children under 13
Safety measures include 50 route marshals and mandatory helmet use (available for hire). All participants must sign indemnity forms, and those without medical aid must sign a waiver.
Ndlovu emphasized the broader impact of cycling:
“It’s more than fitness – it’s about building habits for lifelong wellness and creating a healthier, more active nation.”
This year, the event targets 500 participants, up from last year’s 300. Cimas has also called on city authorities to improve infrastructure that supports safe cycling.
