The award-winning television series Chipo the Gift is back on ZBCTV with screenings every Mondays at 7:30 pm.
Produced by Rooftop Promotions the third season TV series carries 13 episodes and it follows on the success of the second season which ended two years ago.
The series had a huge viewership on both the national broadcaster and online (Rooftop Promotions YouTube channel).
The third season production was done with support from Ford Foundation and it deliberately continues strengthening change champion Chipo as she leads from the front through mobilization of her community to take a stand against child marriages and injustice through a spirited demonstration.
On the other hand, her boyfriend Spencer seemingly driven by lack of resources for daily living finds himself in a pickle as he gets himself embroiled in the nasty business of drugs and substance distribution which ends up badly. Our bulwark Tete Sophia’s business is thriving whilst the nefarious ‘husband’ worms his way back into her life.
In a statement, Rooftop Promotions producer Daves Guzha said the project had a positive impact based on the feedback from the viewers which has motivated the institution to continue with this production.
“We would like to thank Ford Foundation,” Guzha said.
All the previous seasons are still available on Rooftop Promotions YouTube channel.
Chipo the Gift is based on a true story written by renowned playwright Virginia Jekanyika.
Since its launch in 2019, it has had two directors, Marian Kunonga and Nakai Beauty Tsuro for seasons 1 and 2 respectively.
Season 3 features on the cast Gamu Mukwakwami, Leo Jakata, Mercy Chirikure, Dalma Chiwereva, Stewart Sakarombe, Felistus Tizola, Charles Muzemba and Lovejoy Mwaonekwa.
Rooftop Promotions has produced numerous family programs which aired on ZBCTV under the institutions’ long-term working relationship.
It has also intervened in various emergencies like HIV and AIDS, using film, theatre, art, etc.
