In line with Zimbabwe’s monthly clean-up initiative, “First Fridays,” the Chinhoyi court community has come together to clean up their surroundings.
Every first Friday of the month, residents gather to take pride in their environment, fostering a sense of unity and responsibility.
This nationwide movement, which began in 2017, aims to tackle littering and environmental degradation. By encouraging citizens to take ownership of their environment,
First Fridays has sparked a cultural shift in waste management and sustainability. Neighborhoods have adopted recycling practices, and some have even established community composting programs ¹.
On this particular clean-up day, the Chinhoyi court community has shown remarkable enthusiasm. Residents, armed with brooms, gloves, and garbage bags, work together to tidy up the area. This collective effort not only beautifies the surroundings but also promotes a sense of camaraderie among community members.
As part of the broader national clean-up campaign announced by President Mnangagwa in 2018, the Chinhoyi court community is contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment. The Environmental Management Agency (EMA) plays a crucial role in supporting this initiative through education and outreach programs.
