The long-awaited Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe is on the brink of completion, with Prophet Walter Magaya announcing that the construction project is advancing smoothly, with the facility set to be completed by the end of March 2025.
This marks a significant milestone in Zimbabwe’s sports infrastructure development.
The stadium, built in collaboration with Chahwanda Shepherd, after whom the venue is named, is poised to become a game-changer for sports in Zimbabwe.
Situated on a vast plot of land in Kwekwe, the stadium is being built to the highest international standards and will serve as a state-of-the-art sports facility.
With a seating capacity for thousands, Chahwanda Stadium will feature an array of modern amenities, including a B Stadium Arena, a club house, changing rooms, a clinic, and a ZIFA house, making it an ideal venue for national and international competitions.
During a familiarization tour attended by officials from Kadoma and Masvingo City Councils, Prophet Magaya emphasized his commitment to constructing at least ten world-class stadiums across Zimbabwe.
Kadoma and Masvingo have already been identified as key locations for future stadiums.
“I have set an ambitious target of constructing at least ten state-of-the-art stadiums across Zimbabwe,” Prophet Magaya shared, highlighting his vision to transform the country’s sports landscape.
The Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe will be the first to be completed, with the project on track for a March 2025 finish.
The tour, led by Prophet Magaya, also included officials from the Kadoma City Council, such as Mayor Nigel Ruzario, Deputy Mayor Michael Mvula, and representatives from Masvingo.
The tour aimed to offer insights into stadium construction and management, as both cities prepare to build similar facilities.
Prophet Magaya, who is also the founder of Prophetic Healing Deliverance (PHD) Ministries, stressed his dedication to providing world-class sports infrastructure across Zimbabwe.
“We envision a future where Zimbabwean athletes can compete at the highest level, and we’re proud to contribute to making that a reality,” he said.
The Mayor of Kadoma, His Worship Nigel Ruzario, expressed excitement over the partnership with Prophet Magaya, noting the transformative potential of a state-of-the-art stadium in their city. “This will not only provide top-tier facilities for athletes but will also drive economic growth, create jobs, and unite our community,” he said.
Prophet Magaya’s vision for the Chahwanda Stadium is to create a thriving sports hub in Kwekwe, where young athletes can train, compete, and hone their skills.
With modern amenities for spectators, including food outlets and ample parking, the stadium is set to become a major landmark and a source of pride for the people of Kwekwe.
As the completion date draws near, Chahwanda Stadium is poised to play a key role in the future of Zimbabwean sports, fostering growth and providing opportunities for athletes and communities alike.
