Castle Tankard 2025: Racing, Raving, and Rocking All the Way!

By Jonathan Mbiriyamveka

HARARE — If you weren’t at Castle Tankard 2025 this past Saturday, you seriously missed out on Zimbabwe’s biggest fusion of horsepower and high-energy entertainment.

The 65th edition of this legendary Grade One horse race wasn’t just about the turf—it was a full-throttle festival under the theme “The Legacy Continues”, and oh yes, it delivered!

From the racetrack to the stage, Castle Tankard 2025 had it all—speed, sound, and sizzle. Whether you were there to win a slice of the US$50,000 prize pot or to soak in the vibes with a cold Castle Lager (which, by the way, was flowing at giveaway prices), the day was packed with energy and excitement.

Stage On Fire 🔥

Forget dull moments. There weren’t any. The stage was lit—literally and musically—as act after act kept the crowd hyped.

Oriyano (aka Senator), Zim dancehall kings Enzo Ishall, Delroy Shewe, Nisha Ts, and the ever-energetic Chillspot Family had the youthful crowd on their feet, singing, dancing, and living for every beat.

But the real showstopper? Alick Macheso. The sungura maestro proved once again why he remains the undisputed king of live performances.

From the first strum of his bass guitar to his signature dance moves, he was magnetic—a true legend topping off a star-studded lineup.

Rising Stars and Humble Swagger

Before he stepped on stage, Oriyano teased fans with promises of a polished performance—and boy, did he deliver. Addressing comparisons to superstar Jah Prayzah, he kept it cool and humble:

“We’re both about making people happy. Jah is a living legend; I’m just starting out.”

Classy, confident, and clearly one to watch.

The Only Downer? The Clock.

Unlike previous years, the event wrapped up at 8 PM—cue collective sigh. The crowd? Still buzzing, still hungry for more. It was clear that Castle Tankard 2025 had all the makings of an all-night party, but alas, the music had to stop.

Still, for one sun-drenched Saturday, Harare transformed into a playground of cheers, beers, and banging beats.

Castle Tankard 2025 wasn’t just a horse race. It was a celebration of rhythm, revelry, and legacy—and everyone lucky enough to be there knows it lived up to the hype.
