A golden sunset bathed the fields of Mashonaland West Province as Hon. Marian Chombo, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, extended a heartfelt welcome to Hon. Hambyuka Julius Hamunyeara, Governor of Namibia’s Kavango East Region.
The occasion marked the beginning of a historic exchange visit, underscoring a shared commitment to regional collaboration, particularly in agriculture, education, and investment.

The visiting Namibian delegation, comprising members of parliament, local authorities, and farmers, began their tour at Pacombe Farm Investment Plot 1, where host farmer Ephraim Pasipanodya showcased thriving crops of tobacco, wheat, and burley.
The farm stands as a model of agricultural productivity in the province, and Hon. Hamunyeara praised the ingenuity and success of Zimbabwean farmers, noting the immense potential for bilateral knowledge exchange.
“This is more than just a farm — it’s a living classroom for what can be achieved when land, skill, and vision meet,” said Hon. Hamunyeara, visibly impressed by the innovation and efficiency displayed.
But agriculture was just the beginning.
The delegation also visited Chinhoyi Technical High School, where they were captivated by the breadth of hands-on training provided to students — from piggery and confectionery to carpentry and driving school programmes.
The school’s commitment to practical, inclusive education drew admiration from the Governor.
“This school reflects a vision of leadership that leaves no one behind,” he said. “You are equipping young people not just with knowledge, but with the tools to transform their communities.”
The day culminated in a welcoming reception dinner hosted at Chinhoyi University of Technology, attended by high-level guests including Hon. Daniel Mahambai and other Namibian parliamentarians, farmers, and entrepreneurs. The atmosphere was filled with warmth, laughter, and a shared optimism for what lies ahead.
A Vision for Cooperation and Shared Growth
This exchange marks the beginning of a week-long official visit, during which the Namibian delegation will tour key sectors across Mashonaland West — from agriculture and education to local enterprise and governance. The mission is not only to observe but also to forge meaningful partnerships, learn from Zimbabwe’s successes and challenges, and explore joint opportunities.
Central to the visit is the memorandum of understanding signed between Mashonaland West and Kavango East. The agreement lays the groundwork for mutual growth in agriculture, including poultry and crop farming, and extends into other key areas such as technical training, rural development, and local government cooperation.
“This is not just a diplomatic visit — it’s the planting of seeds,” said Minister Chombo. “We are building a legacy of friendship, economic growth, and regional empowerment.”
A Future Built on Shared Values
As the delegation continues its tour across Zimbabwe, the spirit of unity and mutual respect remains palpable. Both regions see this exchange not only as a platform for economic collaboration but also as a powerful expression of Pan-African solidarity.
This initiative exemplifies how provinces and regions can act as engines of development diplomacy, strengthening ties from the grassroots and complementing broader national efforts.
Conclusion: Beyond Borders, Toward Shared Prosperity
With days of learning, engagement, and cultural immersion still ahead, the exchange visit between Mashonaland West Province and Kavango East Region signals more than just cooperation — it’s a celebration of shared goals, resilience, and the enduring ties between Zimbabwe and Namibia.
In bridging borders, the two regions are also building a path toward inclusive development, sustainable agriculture, and lasting friendship — one handshake, one field, and one conversation at a time.
